Learn About Protein In A Raw Food Diet

Protein in a raw food diet

Protein is a vital nutrient for the body. Amino acids are produced by our body but there are some which are not and are vital. The thirteen essential amino acids are under this category.

It is important to get a regular dose of all these thirteen amino acids. While our diet may supply us with some of these amino acids it may not supply us with all of them. Therefore, it is important to consult a doctor and find out whether one is getting all the necessary amino acids and their required dose.

If there is an amino acid deficiency, then one can consume some raw food items to fill in the gaps. Nutritional deficiency may not be apparent immediately but by the time it is, it may have caused irreparable damages to the body. So one should consult a doctor and find out whether one’s diet is adequate or not.

A healthy diet should include approximately 25 to 35 grams of protein daily. This depends on the weight and one should find out these details from one’s doctor. Those on a raw food diet argue that our bodies produce all the amino acids that we need provided we get the required amount of protein.

They say that there is a reservoir of amino acids in our bodies from which the system can derive the amino acids that it requires so long as we are getting the required amount of protein through our diet.

However, it is necessary to actually consume the amino acids that we need. Some food items may have some amino acids but not all the amino acids that we need. So we need to eat different kinds of food items to ensure that all the nutrients are derived. Consult a doctor to find out which food item combinations make up a healthy diet.

Some people even eat raw meat and dairy products like unpasteurised milk. This takes cares of their protein and vitamin B12 requirements but this is dangerous. Raw meat and unpasteurised milk can have salmonella, ecoli, staph infections and other bacteria. These can even cause fatal diseases like brain problems. Generally processing or cooking food kills these bacteria along with some safe and required nutrients. However, it is not safe at all to eat raw meat or unpasteurised milk.

Therefore consult a doctor to find out about a complete protein and amino acid diet irrespective of whether one is on a raw food diet or not. Raw fish and sushi is prepared in a special way and the raw fish is generally frozen at one point of time thereby killing some of these life-threatening bacteria.
